(KA) antara Garut-Cikajang yang sejak tahun 1982 dinonaktivkan, rencananya oleh Pemprov Jawa Barat, PT Kereta Api Indonesia, dan Pemkab Garut akan diaktivkan kembali (reaktivasi).<\/p>\n<p>Pengamat kebijakan publik sekaligus pemerhati kesejarahan dan budaya, Oos Supyadin, mengatakan bahwa reaktivasi jalur KA Garut-Cikajang itu adalah langkah cerdas dan hebat dari pemerintah.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Bukan saja alasan efektivitas dan efesiensi alat transportasi seperti distribusi hasil pertanian, produk lokal, dan akan mampu meningkatkan destinasi wisata lokal, regional bahkan internasional, namun nilai prestise sejarah pun akan kembali terangkat,&#8221; ucapnya, Kamis (17\/4\/2025).<\/p>\n<p>Sebab, tambah pengurus Dewan Adat Kabupaten Garut (DAKG), ini Stasiun KA Cikajang merupakan stasiun KA pada posisi daerah tertinggi se-Asia Tenggara yakni terletak pada ketinggian 1.246 mdpl.<\/p>\n<p>Menutut Oos, Stasiun KA Cikajang dibangun jauh sebelum Indonesia merdeka yang perencanaannya mulai tahun 1926 dan mulai dibangunnya tahun 1930, namun sayang dinonaktifkan sejak tahun 1982.<\/p>\n<p>Sementara menurut Guru Besar Prodi Ilmu Sejarah Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Padjadjaran Bandung, Prof. Kunto Santoso,  bahwa pembangunan jalur KA dari Garut ke Cikajang dinilai sangat menguntungkan karena akan menghidupkan ekonomi di daerah sekitarnya, mengangkut hasil perkebunan, juga menghidupkan sektor pariwisata.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Kepada segenap warga Garut mari sambut dengan suka cita keputusan pemerintah yang cerdas dan hebat ini,&#8221; ujarnya.
